Wk4-1 DB Quickies: my dream teaching/presentation environment

Topic #1: Briefly share what your dream teaching or presentation environment would be like, be specific about what such a place would include (beyond just the tech toys).
Honestly, I feel super fortunate to have already experienced such a dream environment having worked at Full Sail University.  It’s definitely more than just the tech toys that made it such a fun place to work.  Of course there were challenges I encountered from working within department restrictions, but the overall environment fosters creativity, challenged me to invest in myself and want to put out more of what I can offer into the world.

Week 4 Wimba Session

Unfortunately, due to my schedule, I was not able to attend Wimba this week.  I understand the first sharing session was cancelled due to lack of sign up due to scheduling challenges as well.  Nonetheless, I did reach out to my peers and mentors to review my progress and offer meaningful feedback.

The main feedback I received was regarding my Results section for the Leadership document as well as a closer review of the Phase Data pages on my CBR site.  I am working on revisiting the results and finding a way to better present, in text form, the results acquired during the project phases to demonstrate support.  Once this is clarified and more details are included, this should help paint a clearer picture as to how using mobile devices helped students get more involved in language learning applications and contributed to their retention.

Stay tuned...

Week 4 Publishing Leadership Project

This Challenged Based Research Project explored the potential use of Mobile Device Applications for Language Learning.   The challenge was to implement mobile device applications into weekly assignments in a way that enhanced the learner experience and increased motivation through personalization. The participants in this project were made up of 18-24 year old students learning English as a Second Language. Participants completed pre and post assessment surveys, video reflection assignments, interviews, and quizzes. The existing literature reviewed and the data collected during the project demonstrated increased learner participation and retention both inside and outside of the classroom. The mobile earners responded positively to the portable and personalized instruction and stayed connected to other students in the language learning community.
